Giving Back
We're very fortunate to have people supporting us on our way, and we're always trying to come up with ways that we can give something back to our communities, sponsors, and the race organizations that make what we do possible.
Here are a few of the ways we're "Giving Back" right now. Feel free to contact us if you have suggestions on ways we can help.
Community & Educational Support
Anna and Kristy are often asked to participate in local community events or appear at schools. They try to accommodate as many of these requests as possible and welcome an opportunity to share their love for what they do. Please see the information on our contact page to reach out to the twins regarding this sort of experience.
Seeing Double Smiles!
Anna and Kristy always enjoy meeting local village youngsters as they work their way along the Iditarod trail. Starting in the 2020 Iditarod, the twins went an extra mile by planning ahead and putting care packs in most of their drop bags. These thoughtful packs each contained some stickers and a brand new toothbrush! They were given to children in these remote Alaska villages to not only to bring them a smile but also to promote dental awareness and good oral hygiene. We hope to make this a regular campaign with the help of supporters within the dental community.

Pick. Click. Give.
Permanent Alaska Residents are eligible for an annual stipend or Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD). In 2008, the Alaska Legislature created Pick. Click. Give., an easy way for PFD recipients to donate a portion of their PFD to educational and charitable organizations across the state of Alaska. Kristy and Anna are proud to participate in Pick. Click. Give. each year.

Annual Turkey Trot
Ok, so running a 5k or 10K foot race the day after Thanksgiving with temperatures hovering around 0 degrees F isn't everyone's idea of a good time. Good thing we're not "everyone"!! Both Anna and Kristy ran on Nov. 25, 2011 in the first annual T200 Turkey Trot, a fundraiser held by the Tustumena race organization. They even managed to take first place in the women's 10K division that year, crossing the finish line together after 48 minutes and 16 seconds. They have participated in just about every Turkey Trot in their local community since!
