Kristy and Anna had a fairly busy day yesterday. There was catching up with friends, sponsors, and fans in town for the event. They had a phone interview with National Geographic Radio that will air during the race (we'll post the link as soon as it is available). Anna had spare sleds to drop off for shipment to later points on the trail. The dogs were fitted with new collars sporting their official Iditarod identification tags. And they're making final preparations with their gear, mounting fresh breaks on sleds, and updating their trail notes.
The festivities kick off today at 10am Alaska time. In addition to Anna and Kristy, we'll also be cheering for our friends Paul Gebhardt (in bib #35 this year and embarking on his 18th Iditarod) and Scott Janssen (fondly known as the Mushing Mortician and wearing bib #20).
And for those as dog-crazy as we are, never fear! We're organizing the biographies of the 32 dogs traveling with the twins this year and will get them posted ASAP.
